Gratz to Spain on the Soccer World Cup! Believe it or not I actually watched almost all of the matches, even though I don't really care about soccer. When you aren't working you have time for stuff like that. I also watch Spanish soaps all day, most of which are all boring and formulaic. I have a list of what a typical Spanish soap must have (and most DO have) to be 'normal'. I'll add it sometime, it's good stuff. I added some more family pictures and soon I'll make an EVE section and put some screenshots on of that game which is pretty decent even though my wife thinks it's boring. She would, of course, it doesn't follow the typical Spanish soap criteria.

I took my daughter to the dermotologist the other day and I noticed a pamphlet on the wall I though was interesting. In big letters on top it says: Molluscum Contagiosum. Should be fairly obvious what it is but to me when I first read it, it sounded like some Harry Potter spell...you know, Harry waves his wand around and says "Molluscum Contagiosum" and the target breaks out in a skin disease....anyway I thought it was funny.

Nothing new so there isnt much point even posting anything, but I will anyway becasue I can. I changed the site around slightly and I think the colors look much better with the background graphic that replaced the banner that I had been using for a long time. I will post some more pics later on and I might be getting close to getting another job now so I'll keep all you 2 or 3 people posted on that.
Ian W - 2009-12-29
Merry Christmas and a happy new year and all of that. Nothing new...still jobless and nobody likes me. That's ok though, I can deal with that. I added some Gracia+ PTS screenshots and also some Christmas pictures that none of you will ever see unless you are a hacker, family, or a family hacker. Enjoy your horrible life, it's all you have after all.

Well, I have been laid off...again. We have known about it for a while and the severance package is decent, still sucks losing your job and having to look for another one, especially when I just finished buying a house a few months before they let us know. If I had known I wouldn't have bought it and at least would have a few more options about what to do or where to go. Oh well, what can you do :(

I read a few interesting sites today having to do with proper netiquette and how to ask a question on forums/mailing lists that will be most likely to solicit a response. These came from John Summerfield in a RHEL 5 mailing list. Good sites to read over if you do a lot of posting. www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html is one and support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 is the other. I found it amusing that the Microsoft kb article has Windows Vista excluded from the list of operating systems the page applies to (and yes I did notice that the last review date is 2005, it's still funny though). On my vista system here at work an info box is at the top of the screen that reads:
This article applies to a different version of Windows than the one you are using. Content in this article may not be relevant to you.
Microsoft excluding vista users from proper netiquette is ironic (maybe they understand the frustration of vista users). Windows 7 is nice though and is out today, go pick it up, and may a thousand stinky camels spit in your direction. Thank you.

I needed to replenish my T-shirt stock so I decided to get a few. Here's what they are:
The second is the hammer and banana from FilmCow's Charlie the Unicorn. I'm too lazy to link it but you can google it. The other one I had made. Weyland-Yutani isn't that big of a deal anymore with AVP and AVPR out (AVP had Weyland and AVPR had Yutani). Back in the day though with the original Alien movie it was just "The Company" and the actual name was never mentioned although if you look hard enough you can see a few patches with the logo. Kind of cool....oh by the way I'm getting laid off from Dell that is closing their call center up here in Twin Falls. Nice huh?
Ian W - 2009-08-07
Here's the highlight of my week:
Yeah...open source at its best. Hannah Montana Linux, who would have thought. I'm thinking of making this the distro of choice at our call center. Yeah, anybody who asks about Linux will get this and then decide if Linux is for them or not....What more could you ask for; Ubuntu, KDE, and Hannah!! It's like....The Best of Both Worlds!!!
Ian W - 2009-05-28
I changed the site back to the darker color. Since the site is mainly pictures and screenshots it's much easier to view the images on a darker background (at least for me it is). I'll probably tweak it a little more over the next week or so, but I'll try to leave it close to this for a little while. The white one that I just replaced this with (replaced the css file pretty much) will get its own subdomain in a bit. I also redid the lineage 2 page at lineage2.ig-wilson.com and made it look a bit nicer. Other than this little bit of website reworking not much new going on here. I might be moving from Heyburn to a house closer to work in Twin Falls so I dont have a 76 mi roundtrip drive to/from work 4 times a week...save in gas money and I can go home for lunch!
Ian W - 2009-05-21
All you atheists and Mormon haters read no further..although I know that since I said that it's guaranteed you will. I designed a set of pages to track the Duty to God award and set it up so that anybody can use it if you have a leader who is in charge of tracking completed requirements. dutytogod.ig-wilson.com is where to go for this. Hit the “Sign Up” link to created an account and request access. Once I grant access you can add the names of the youth in your ward/branch and view/update requirements. If you see anything in there that is incorrect or something that is missing please let me know.

This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. The broadcasters of your area in voluntary cooperation with the FCC and federal, state and local
authorities have developed this system to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. If this had been an actual emergency, you would have been instructed to tune to one of the broadcast stations in your area. This concludes this test of the Emergency Broadcast System.

So I went crazy on the certifications but have decided to stop for now (time I still have but money is running low). I was able to finish the MCSA and have taken the 2 tests for the A+, so I can't call myself Professor or Doctor, but I can call myself - MCP, MCDST, MCTS, MCITP, MCSA, A+, Linux+, and DCSE. Not that it matters all that much anyway since Dell isn't going to pay me any more for having these. I was just doing them just to do them anyway. I was originally just going to stop at the MCDST but I noticed that there was just one more test for the MCTS and the MCITP so I took it. Once that was done I noticed there were only two more for the MCSA so I figured, what the heck, installed server 2k3 on a box, played with it a little and went for it. Passed all tests the first time and didn’t really have any moments where I thought I might fail any. I'm not sure what to do now but will stop with the certs and focus on something different for a while.
Ian W - 2009-03-17
Yay!! Unless something changes in the next few days (like maybe Vogons destroy the planet for their hyperspace bypass), then I should be officially an MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator). What does this mean for me? Not much since I still work at Dell, make the same amount of money, and do linux support. What does this means for you? Probably even less than it does for me, unless you are looking for an MCSA certified linux tech to take huge sums of money from your payroll, then I'm your guy! Apart from this highly eventful occasion not much else is going on.
Ian W - 2009-02-26
Since I know everybody is eagerly awaiting any news of me and your lives just aren't the same without constant reminders that I am here, here is the new thing for this past few days. I passed another MS exam yesterday so I am now officially an MCITP which basically means I can go from being a fry cook and move over to making burgers. Yay, all that fry grease was making my skin melt off (much to the chagrin of the customers who would get body parts in their food). A little extra DNA is a good thing right? Anyway I also posted a few more L2 pictures for your viewing pleasure. Team Jesus is officially defunct and we all went to RDogs so I need to make a new signature image for the forums. That will give me something to do for a while since I have no idea what RDogs is supposed to mean. If you have no idea what I am talking about with RDogs and Team Jesus, that is ok...they are basically effects of a disease called Lineage 2. Symptoms include obesity, pallid skin, bug-eyes, carpal tunnel, and an aversion to any social situations that involve direct human contact. Extreme cases involve role playing, cosplay and other disgusting behavior. Please avoid these people at all costs for your own sake, it's not worth trying to cure them. Thank you.
Ian W - 2009-02-19
Ok so yesterday one of my enlightened coworkers informed us other linux people that "Debian is compatible with the Dewey Decimal System". While my first gut reaction (it's my normal reaction to anything anybody says by the way) was to laugh hysterically until the contents of my bladder completely drained onto the nice carpets here at Dell, I took the safe road and just looked at him like he had taken the train to crazy land. He didnt seem to notice. But then I thought, since he is enlightened after all, maybe my mind just can't comprehend the greatness of of either Debian or the Dewey Decimal System. I tried to google it but apparently everybody else on the internet is a loser like me because I didnt find anything to help me out. I'm sending this out as a general alarm to any Debian experts out there to please help me out because I am at a loss on this one. My google searches on this topic eventually degenerated to a search for 'how to kill myself at work and make it look like an accident because I cant take it anymore' and GoBot images.
Ian W - 2009-01-08
Although I like the darker colors, for some reason I couldnt get used to the black background with the white text (black.ig-wilson.com if you have no clue what I am talking about). I started out with white but it was almost as bad and makes the thumbnails for the screenshots even darker than they already are so I changed it to a light grey...I relate it to the color of the concrete in most prison cells I have had the pleasure of frequenting (that is a joke by the way!!). I applied for a few more jobs today, I'm sure I have the same chance if getting one of those as I have all the rest that I haven't gotten. At least I have been using my time at work productively (hey, I could just be reading a book).
Ian W - 2008-12-17
Gravedigger would be kind of nice also..at least you would be able to see what you have accomplished by the end of the day. My job is sort of the same if you take away the time I sit around and do nothing; as much as I dont like my job at least I know I have helped somebody fix some issue every now and then. I'm talking about digging graves the old fashioned way though, with a shovel, not a backhoe. If you have to have a license to operate heavy equipment then it isnt real grave digging. Mexico has some awesome graveyards, stuff that would fit right in in a vampire or zombie movie. I never got any good pictures since I usually was around them at night though looking for unused body parts just lying around. If I ever go back and dont get shot at the border by drug cartels the cemetaries will be the first stop in each city I pass through.
Ian W - 2008-12-09
Yes I am doing fine thanks for asking (although I know nobody asked or really cares). I was thinking about becoming a pirate, all I would to give up would be half a leg and and eye and I would end up with a boatload of swag and booty and not have to work a normal job...not that my job is normal mind you, because if it were and everybody does what I do (which is largely nothing) then society would ground to a halt and we would all die horrible deaths. Not that that would be all bad actually. So pirate would be good. Politician is the only other profession close to a pirate where you get rich stealing from others and having a great time while doing it. Ask Bill, he knows all about swag and booty. So anyway I changed the layout of the site around a bit again from the overlap darkish pages (now at overlap.ig-wilson.com) to this 3 column slightly less dreary setup. If you don't like it go kill yourself, I don't care. I'll update some L2 pages in a while and maybe some family pictures if I get around to it after making my new pirate costume.
Ian W - 2008-09-30
So this is fairly obvious if you come here often (which I highly doubt), but I changed the site around a bit again...still messing with different CSS properties and learning how things work. If you don't like it, who cares. Since mostly all I update are the Lineage 2 and family pictures, I put back in the server status section, used an l2 background, and put the l2 pictures section back in the menu instead of forcing people to go to lineage2.ig-wilson.com to see pictures. Th auto assault pics I'll eventually put onto one page. Of course I made quite a few backend changes also which should help things out (removing tables in favor of css formatting...etc). It's always a work in progress. On a side note I did take and pass the 70-272 M$ exam, so I am now an MCDST certified loser instead of just an MCP loser (not to be confused with your average loser). It has been scientifically proven that each Microsoft exam taken raises your IQ by .0278 points...do not ask for my source on this fact!
Ian W - 2008-07-23
I took the server status down but put it back up again since glop has finally updated their list and added the merged servers and Luna. I also added lineage2.ig-wilson.com which has the L2 pictures I have here...looks a lot nicer as a stand-alone lineage 2 section. Take a look at it..I'll probably do the same type of thing with family pictures sometime since I am bored to death here at work (nothing to do atm).
Ian W - 2008-07-03
Happy July 4th...even if it is only the 3rd...and no, I really dont care all that much if you have a good 4th or not, just being polite. With L2 server merges coming up on the 8th I will probably dump the server status menu section here, not like it will be updated with the merged servers since Luna was never added and I don't care if Bartz or the euro servers are up or down. I'll add some green there so Casey doesn't complain to me even more about lack of color on this site. Not much else new out there..that I care about anyway (you see a theme in this post)?
Ian W - 2008-06-25
I added 3 more subdomains... white.ig-wilson.com, red.ig-wilson.com, and blue.ig-wilson.com. Playing with CSS mostly. Blue is the old site before I changed it to this dark, depressing color. White is a 3 column CSS page and red is a screenshot of my local redhat EL 5 desktop (modified of course) with a CSS overlay. No real point to any one of them except my own learning and having fun with CSS. The main www.ig-wilson.com will always be updated..the others might or might not be kept updated if I decide to make new sections.
IanW - 2008-06-07
Ok so here is the highlight of the last few weeks...
Yes I know it's sad. It's a Doll Blader, and I have no idea what a blader is supposed to be, but my wife and I are probably the only two people on Kain with this transformation so for now at least we are more awesome than you are.
Ian W - 2008-06-04
So I was proud of myself the other day (you geek types will just roll your eyes and say.."duh, I could have done that in 5 min"...well you are probably right but that is why you are a geek and I am way cooler than you are)...I was able to reduce 15 anime graphic pages and 32 family pictures down to two pages by finally figuring out how to get one generic page working. Basically I have all my pictures in a mysql db with a subcategory number so I can order pictures specifically where I want them, so I setup a query to get the min and max subcategory and then use that along with the subcategory I am already on to determine what the next/previous page will be. Yes easy stuff I'm sure if you already know how to do it...
From there to the Previous/Next buttons which are forms with minus or plus to load. Quite nifty if I say so myself.
Ian W - 2008-05-30
I have widened the site a little...figured most people dont run 800x600 anymore and so there was no point constraining the pages to a 740 pixel box. If you still use a monitor that has a maximum resolution of 800x600 then I will pray for your eternal soul because you are truly one of the damned. Other than that I have added some more L2 pictures, have changed some back-end code and cleaned up the mysql db a little, and have moved the old gauntlet and molan pages to their own subdomains (gauntlet.ig-wilson.com and molan.ig-wilson.com/molan[1-3]). Why do I keep them around you ask? No real reason except they were some of the first html I had done back in the day when frames were a big deal and most other sites generally sucked as much as mine did. There are also some good molan pictures of lan parties we had way back in 1998 when games were actually good which reminds me that back then I used to subscribe to PC gamer magazine with the CD, and since I lived in an apartment and had a mailbox the size of a small cat, the mailman would fold up the magazine and ALWAYS snap the cd in two pieces to fit it in the mailbox. Mailmen across the country, hearken to my words: folding a cd is not generally a good idea and you will incur my wrath. Amen. P.S. I am sort of looking for another job so if anybody wants to hire me as a comedic writer or to wash your car or mow your lawn, or maybe even some computer related job (I was called a Linux Jesus at work the other day, although I have not died for your computer sins yet), that would be great as I have been waiting for the chance to buy a nice big house with a 3 car garage even though I only have 1 car and a swimming pool that I will never use. Thank you.
IanW - 2007-12-20
I got some old Lineage 2 pictures from a cool friend and fellow player a few days ago who let me put some of his screenshots on the site (I have to say he is cool because he bought me a t-shirt from Japan when he went there). Those are listed under the Lineage 2 Alaby section. Made a few other changes to the site. Other than that everything is going ok I guess, I'm still alive at least. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you. May a plague of South American ants miss your house by mere inches and devour your neighbor's house instead. Amen
Ian W - 2007-11-18
Changed the site around a little, I'm sure you probably noticed...most everything should work and be uniform and all that...added a really nice picture viewer for most of the images. It was a free javascript app called Highslide JS. Very nice. Will add some more L2 pictures very soon and change a few more things around.
Ian W - 2007-06-09
Still at Dell, still in Idaho; the potato people haven't gotten me yet. Recently moved from doing the regulat gold tech support (basically hardware troubleshooting) to the linux queue taking linux calls. Not really a step up or down, but a little more insteresting than just sending people parts all day long. For the website Ill add more L2 pics in the next few days, thats just about all I do at home.
Ian W - 2007-01-04
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all that nonsense....I added more Lineage 2 pictures and updated a few things for the few people who actually care. I added a new section for Windows Vista with some screenshots of the desktop and windows for a few people who were asking me about it. Other than that not much new with my life, still one of the poor and downtrodden.
Ian W - 2006-09-10
I'm adding some new stuff just for the heck of it...figured I might as well update the site more often if I can...although I don't really know why. I added a Lineage II server status section right below the logo which shows if the L2 servers are up or down. Useful to me, who cares about you. I did update the Auto Assault closed beta section with some screenshots, take a look at those if that interests you.
Ian W - 2006-09-05
Thanks to Mr. Neave for resending me the original fla files for asteroids and pacman the highscore tables are working correctly again!! Wow I'm sure you are all so relieved now and you can go on living a life that makes some kind of sense. Chronicle 5 for Lineage 2 set to launch tomorrow so the servers will most likely be down today for updating in which case I will work on the site a little and see what new stuff I can get in here.
Don't forget to check out my brothers photos (some very nice ones indeed) at pbase (click here).
Ian W - 2006-08-30
Well, moved to Idaho, got a job at Dell that starts next month so I guess not all is bad in the world...bad but not too bad. Haven't updated much on the site recently, I guess I can add the AA closed beta pictures and some more Lineage 2 pictures, thats just about all I have been doing recently.
Ian W - 2006-04-22
Not much new, still looking for a job. I've put in a bunch of resumes and applications and had a few interviews. Still waiting on a few so hopefully I get something soon. Getting laid off actually worked out rather well since the company filed for chapter 11 a few months after I left. At least I got a decent severance package which the others didnt get. Other than the job I'm playing Auto Assault and Lineage II still. Since the closed beta is over I can post those screenshots sometime. I have posted some updated Lineage II screenshots also and have some more still I can add later.
Ian W - 2006-01-03
Well, got laid off last week and my grandma died on the same day...lucky me huh? I think so, such is my life.
Ian W - 2005-08-24
I have moved the site off my DSL connection and onto a hosted provider. We will see how this goes since I had it disconnected most of the time anyway...not that anybody cares anyway except the spammers that send me junk email now can do it more often...at least now it won't slow my home connection to a crawl. I'll be going through the site and making sure everything comes up ok...I have already noticed a few things that I need to take care of but am too tired at this particular moment. Enjoy
Ian W - 2005-07-12
I added a few new Lineage 2 pictures and changed a few things around not that anybody will notice (just a few backend changes to make the site a little more secure). Enjoy
Ian W - 2005-05-04
Other than possibly getting laid off from my job in the near future I'm doing ok. I got accepted into the Auto Assault closed beta and so I made a page for any screenshots I take of that (provided I can post them...I may just have to wait till release but I'll find out). For those of you with family photo access I'll try to update the pictures since they are all old now
Ian W - 2005-02-02
I added a page to the Lineage 2 section today called - Alaby's Tanking Guide - for all you would be tanks out there to get some good pointers on how to tank or at least get a few good ideas that you may not have heard of and can use to better yourself and your party. Thanks Alaby for letting me post the guide on this site!
Ian W - 2005-01-20
New Lineage 2 pictures up fro the C2 update as well as a few other minor changes to the website. Happy New Year also. Peace and Love!
Ian W - 2004-10-20
My brother went on a few hiking trips the past few week and took some pretty decent pictures and did a writeup of the trip which can be found by clicking on the following links:
Ian W - 2004-10-14
The website has been redesigned (if you didn't already figure that out already)..send me an email if you see anything funky or if something doesn't appear to work.
Ian W - 2004-02-13
There is a new page with my brothers 1600 Cockpit for Falcon 4 which although completed has no release date. The page does contain some in-game screenshots though for you to take a look at. Go to the Falcon 4.0 menu and click 'PW 1600 Cockpit V1'
I also updated the PhoenixHall picture. There were a few small changes that were made (although I couldn't tell what they were).
Ian W - 2004-02-12
I guess there has been a lot of activity going on here the past few days, and it is causing a few problems with:
1) My ability to work (I work out of home and it is extremely slow right now) and
2)The Lineage II Taiwan open beta that my wife and I are playing keeps getting disconnected because of all the incoming traffic.
Be aware that the website is on a residential DSL line and that both reasons above are good enough to shut down apache for a while if things get too slow. This is just an FYI that if you try to connect and cannot then it is probably one of those times. Just keep trying or come back in the middle of the night when I'm asleep ;-)
Ian W - 2003-12-20
I stopped running the Freelancer server I had since the game is getting kind of old and nobody was really playing it these days. I left the final stats up on this site right here. I wanted to shut down that Windows box I had running only for that purpose. I tried a Raven Shield server for a short time but the ping times sucked so I gave that idea up. At the moment I am running an Unreal Tournament 2003 server on the linux box this website is on.
Ian W - 2003-10-08
I put up an updated image from my bro this morning. It is in the updated section on his POV page. Here is a preview of it:
Ian W - 2003-07-19
I'm still alive, believe it or not. I am running a Freelancer server with the Rebalance 2.01 mod. You can get player stats from flserver.ig-wilson.com. The name of the server is 'Tom's Game' . Not much has been updated since nothing is happening at the moment. Sorry, but my life is boring, what can I say?
Ian W - 2003-02-19
For those of you wondering when a download will be available for the Falcon 4 SP3 1600 Cockpit, the unfortunate answer is never. My brother has told me that he has lost interest in this project and that there are other 1600 cockpits out there that are being done at this moment, as well as newer sims. Sorry 'bout that.
I'll leave the SP3 1600 page up for the pics, just so you can see what might have been, but don't bother to ask if/when a download will be available.
Ian W - 2003-01-14
I finally had some time to update the links page. You can submit your own link by using the form at the bottom of the page. If you know of any good sites related to anything on this one (POV, F4, etc) be my guest and submit them. However, as I said on the links page, let's not be little kids about this. Don't abuse it or it will be removed.
Ian W - 2003-01-08
Hi everybody. Nothing new around here unfortunately. I did update a few things but I'll bet most people won't guess what. As far as I can tell my brother has not been working on anything new (unless he is starting to keep things from me ;-) As soon as he gives me anything new in the way of pictures or downloads I'll be sure to let you know.
I hope everybody had a nice holiday and will continue to have a good 2003. I'm hoping to get hit by a truck sometime in the next few months.
